October 1981 Fall Color and Old Houses in Farmington Hills
I bought a historic home in the Northwest corner of Farmington Hills, Michigan in December of 1980. The following October, I took these photos to capture the wonderfully rural flavor of my neighborhood as it was when I first fell in love with it; the gravel roads, the old houses, with plenty of natural beauty, no sidewalks, no Condos, very few subdivisions, very few strip malls, and virtually no traffic congestion. These photos were taken with a Nikon F2a and a Nikkor 25-50mm f/4 zoom lens using ASA 64 speed 35mm Kodachrome slide film.

Here is a view of the same hill shown in the previous photo, but from the other, Northerly, direction. That fence on the left is in front of the Theron Murray House built in the mid-1830s. The aerial photos of this area taken in 1940 show a small dirt runway airfield on the land across the road from this house.
